Mayor's visit

The Mayor of Kingston introduces herself to LEAH clients

LEAH clients welcome Kingston Mayor to class

On Tuesday 30th Jan we were thrilled to welcome Julie Pickering, the Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, to LEAH's class at Alexandra School. The Mayor was visiting the school, and the Headteacher, Mrs Rachel Carr, included an unscheduled drop-in to our class in her tour of the school.

The Mayor was extremely warm and welcoming to our clients, who introduced her to the lesson topic of food from around the world.

The visit marked a really positive second week of our school's class at Alexandra School, for which we've had record numbers of attendees - 20 clients were present for the Mayor's visit, all parents of pupils at the school. The class, which aims to increase the confidence and language skills of adults with low levels of English and improve their ability to communicate with the school, is made possible by funding from the Controlling Migration Fund.

A huge thank you to our funding partners at the Royal Borough of Kingston, and particularly to Mrs Carr and all her team at Alexandra School who have been incredibly welcoming and supportive.
