English For Health
Courses for Students
The English for Health project aims to improve students' quality of life by providing short health and wellbeing courses with embedded ESOL. Courses run in Kingston and Richmond and are available to anyone with ESOL needs. A free crèche is always provided.
Courses which have run in 2010 include:
- Cycling Course (with Royal Borough of Kingston);
- Sexual Health Awareness Student Drop-in;
- Indian Head Massage Course;
- Mental Health Awareness Student Drop-in;
- Keep Fit Course;
- Baby Massage and Yoga Course;
- Outdoor Keep Fit Course;
- Children's Immunisation Awareness Student Drop-in;
- Mental Health Awareness and Relaxation Techniques Course;
- Stepping Stones 'Preparation for College' Course;
- IT for Beginners Course (with Kingston Family Learning).
Courses for ESOL Tutors
The English for Health project is designed to equip those working with ESOL students to include health and wellbeing messages in their teaching. Tutor Development Workshops are open to LEAH volunteer tutors and external tutors working in the ESOL community.
Workshops run in 2010 include:
- Cultural Awareness Training;
- Domestic Abuse Awareness Training.
