APPLY TO BE A TUTOR  THE LEAH VOLUNTEER TUTOR Volunteers have diverse backgrounds and experience. Their ages range from 20 upwards to 70 and more! We positively encourage people with English as their Second language to apply as volunteers. All you need is commitment, a good understanding of English and enjoy helping people. Our tutors find their own horizons broadened and valuable experience is gained in teaching adults. You will help your student gain confidence in coping with life in England. The LEAH Volunteer makes a real difference to someone else’s life.   TRAINING You do not need teaching experience to volunteer. Our free training course consists of two hour sessions once a week for (usually) eight weeks. (We aim to match you with your student half-way through the course to give you more practical experience). Support and materials are available to you, such as tapes, course books and a cassette player. We have three training courses per year, starting October, January and May.
