It was all smiles for our trip to Kew on Wednesday 7th June. When the gardens closed early the day before due to wet weather we were worried if we would be able to go ahead but fortunately although it was a bit cloudy the rain stayed away and we all made our way to Kew Gardens as planned.
The Hive which is one of Kew's newest features was a big hit with everyone. We were very lucky to have a personal guide from Howard who is not only a LEAH volunteer tutor but also a volunteer for Kew. He very kindly explained what to do with the lolly sticks and we all enjoyed listening to the bees, hard at work in the hive.
After a morning walking around the gardens we all sat down for a rest outside the Palm House and shared a picnic lunch. Lots of new friendships were made and everyone so enjoyed speaking English together in these beautiful surroundings.
