LEAH's crew last year raised over £2,000
Crew a dragon boat and raise money for LEAH
Ahoy there landlubbers! Join LEAH’s dragon boat crew and have a fun day out at this charity event organised by Kingston Rotary Club on the Thames at Canbury Gardens, Sunday 22 July 2018.
Crews of mixed abilities and those with disabilities may take part. There is a minimum age limit of 12 years. You will receive training on the day, so no previous experience of dragon boat racing is necessary.
A team is made up of 16 people plus a drummer to beat time for the crew. Races take place every 15 minutes throughout the day with each team racing at least three times over the 250 metre course. The first race takes place at 9.30am and the final at about 4.30pm.
Each LEAH crew member is asked to pay £27 (to cover Rotary’s entry fee) and to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship money. Last year Team LEAH raised an amazing £2,300. We’re raising the bar, ever so slightly this year, by setting a target of £2,500.
Rotary is recommending that other teams support LEAH, if they aren’t raising money for their own charity, which is great news for us. That’s all the more reason to join the crew and raise money for LEAH’s tutor training programme and community classes. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or request further information.
