LEAH’s amazing community of volunteers, their families and friends, got stuck into a friendly international quiz - held at The Canbury Arms in Kingston on the evening of 30 November 2017 - to raise money for the Freda Lambert Appeal launched earlier this year to coincide with LEAH’s 35 anniversary.
Publican and quiz-master Michael Salaman put teams through six-rounds of questions about cultures, geography, history, entertainment and food. “LEAH helps people from all over the world, so I wanted the quiz to challenge people’s knowledge of different countries,” said Charlotte, Michael’s wife, who set the questions. Throughout the evening money was raised for LEAH through the sale of raffle tickets and fundraising games.
Director Kate Brown said: “It was terrific to see so many turn out for an evening of fun and friendship. As ever our supporters and the local business community were very generous with donations of cash and raffle prizes, which means we can train more tutors to teach people at home or in small, community classes.”
Just over £1,300 was raised on the night for the Freda Lambert Appeal which helps to fund LEAH’s tutor training programme.
